Last day of November, let’s squeeze in another o Last day of November, let’s squeeze in another one of my Life’s Simple Pleasures, number 42, the calm in the house before anyone else wakes.
Maybe this is something most understood by parents, perhaps even those with roommates. While a house brimming with life and energy is such a blessing, so are those quiet moments just to yourself before anyone else wakes. While I don’t partake as much in the winter, preferring instead to stay snuggled in my warm bed as long as possible, the rest of the year I love waking with the sun, quietly sipping a hot beverage, and being present in the moment. Sometimes I just sit and watch the particles dancing in the light as it pours in over the mountains, through fences and into my home. Other times I journal so my constant flow of thoughts have somewhere else to live. And most often I love to wake my body with intentional movement, like yoga or intuitive stretches.
Hello friends! I am so excited to be vending at th Hello friends! I am so excited to be vending at the @riversidefarmersmarketreno Holiday Bazaar this Sunday with over 130 other local vendors.

I create art & decor for the weird, wild & magical ones in your life and I am freshly stocked on all your favorite prints, including the beloved Reno Arches piece I created for our city’s 150th anniversary 💜
Number 15 from the Life’s Simple Pleasures list Number 15 from the Life’s Simple Pleasures list is ‘driving with the windows down’. Sometimes, oftentimes rather, I forget how blissfully refreshing this can be. A purging of old stagnant energies. But my children remind me, no matter the weather, they love putting the windows down and letting our hair go crazy in the wind tunnel created in the car. Something about it will always feel like a fresh start to me, a burst of joy, true presence in the moment.

Today I got to partake in number 22 of my Life’s Today I got to partake in number 22 of my Life’s Simple Pleasures list…. Museums. Large or small, museums are always filled with beautiful treasures to experience. As an artist, I find them energizing, inspiring, invigorating. I love seeing the way others think, interpret and share the world around them. I am honored to witness experiences different than my own, grateful to learn in evocative ways. I love to visit a museum whenever a travel, and not just the traditional ones, the weird & fun ones too. Maybe it’s because I’m ruled by Mercury, ever absorbing information, but I will never pass up the opportunity to see art, insects, bones, sculptures, photography, miniature models, installations, or anything that teaches me something.
Can I tell you something? I rarely like to talk a Can I tell you something?
I rarely like to talk about it these days, preferring to move on from past experiences with hope for the future, but the truth is a lot of my life has been filled with difficult circumstances and a lot of sadness. I myself prefer to turn my face towards the sun, but some days the clouds persist. And because of that I have tried all sorts of coping mechanisms throughout the years. Cleanses, workouts, supplements, retail therapy, actual therapy, journaling, meditation, gratitude lists, rituals, drinking, smoking, walking, running, hiking, traveling, and probably more things that are escaping memory…. All to try and lift myself up and find peace with the hand I’ve been dealt.
One of the those things was a list I started that I carry over into each new journal, called Life’s Simple Pleasures. It’s a way to remind myself that even when things are bad, I can find little glimmers of love & happiness from simple things. Every November I think to myself that I should share some of these, and now is finally the November I’m making it happen.
I hope these help guide you to a bit of reprieve from the constant onslaught of ‘all the bad things’ that are everywhere always.
Today I’ll share my Life’s Simple Pleasure number 48, baking. I love it so much, it’s also number 58 apparently, as baking on a fall afternoon 😂 what can I say? My love of baking found me in childhood, my grandmother worked in a bakery and would let me pick something from the case when I’d visit. I’d walk up and down those cases enamored by all the gorgeous colors & decadent smells, and I’d always pick the eclair. She showed me how to bake my first pie, and how to lattice the crust. From then on baking has been a way of returning home. These days I love to bake pies, scones, breads and all my children’s birthday cakes. I make everything from scratch, even the crust. It’s alchemy. It’s nourishment. It’s an act of love.
